Alessio Bax, winner of the prestigious 2009 Avery Fisher Career Grant, has appeared as soloist with over 90 orchestras including the London and Royal Philharmonic, Dallas and Houston symphonies, and the NHK Symphony in Japan, and performed at London’s International Piano Series, Switzerland’s Verbier Festival, England’s Aldeburgh and Bath festivals, and Germany’s Ruhr Klavier-Festival.
His recordings, Bach Transcribed and Baroque Reflections have received rave reviews, including a Gramophone’ “Editor’s Choice” and an American Record Guide “Critics’ Choice.” He graduated with top honours from the conservatory of his home town, Bari, and went on to win first prize at the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition in Japan and the Leeds International Pianoforte Competition in the UK.
During the 2010/11 season, he has appeared with the Vancouver Symphony, Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra and the Colorado Symphony and he has played solo recitals at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Harriman-Jewell series in Kansas City. Alessio played for the Keyboard Trust at Steinway Hall both in London and New York City, where he currently resides.
