Harpsichord Recital by Jean Rondeau for Friends of St Cecilia Hall, Edinburgh
St Andrew's and St George's West Church — 24 August 2016, 15:00
Jean Rondeau has been stirring up the early music scene since winning the Bruges Harpsichord Competition. Celebrated for his often iconoclastic interpretations of standard repertoire, this young French artist already has two successful solo CDs to his credit. In dynamically charged live performances he aims to convince the world that the harpsichord is cool, yet this modernity is matched by his assured understanding of historical context. In Edinburgh Jean Rondeau will explore the transformative nature of Dance, as portrayed by JS Bach, Rameau and Royer. ‘maturity, fabulous touch and originality’ (France Musique).
This show requires a quietly attentive audience. It is not suitable for extremely young children.
