British-Australian pianist, Drew Steanson is currently studying with Alessandra Brustia at the Bolzano Conservatoire.
He started receiving piano lessons in January 2007 and passed Grade 8 with distinction in February 2010. He finished his undergraduate degree with Philip Jenkins at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and moved to Trinity Laban to study with Sergio de Simone and Peter Tuite. Previously, he studied at Peter Symonds College in Winchester where he participated on the Hampshire Specialist Music Course and gave a concerto performance at Thornden Hall.
While at Guildhall Drew won many prizes including the Guildhall Romantic Piano Prize 2015 — and was recently a finalist in the first International Piano Competition of Nikolai Medtner in St Petersburg.
Drew has played in many of London’s most prestigious concert halls including the Royal Festival Hall, Wigmore Hall, and at Inner Temple in the Temple Young Emerging Artist Series. He has played to many distinguished pianists including Idil Biret, Vladimir Tropp and Angela Hewitt.
He recently performed Rachmaninoff’s First Piano Concerto with the Corinthian Chamber Orchestra at St James’s Piccadilly under conductor Adrian Brown. He often includes the works of Nicolai Medtner in recitals and performed in the International Medtner festival in Hamburg and Berlin 2018.
Upcoming appearances include a recital in the International Medtner Festival in Odessa in October 2019.
Drew became a Young Steinway Artist in April 2016.
