Pontus Carron is a Swedish pianist born in 1993. He studied with Prof. Stefan Bojsten at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, and with Prof. Mats Widlund at the distinguished Edsberg Manor between 2012 and 2018. Prizes include 1st prize in Stockholm International Music Competition in 2017, 2nd prize at the Nordic Piano Competition in 2019 and 4th prize in International Piano Competition San Dona di Piave in 2016. Pontus has been the recipient of awards and scholarships from the Grand Lodge of Sweden and the Royal Academy of Music.
Pontus performs regularly as a recital pianist, at venues like Konserthuset in Stockholm, Donizetti Theatre Bergamo, Palladium in Malmö and Deutches Haus in Flensburg. Pontus is also active as a chamber music pianist, and together with cellist Kristina Winiarski he was a silver medalist in the ”Swedish International Duo Competition in 2017”, and winner of Sweden’s biggest chamber music competition ”Young and Promising” in 2019. The 2019/2020 season will include collaborations with Quartetto di Cremona, Gävle Symphony Orchestra and the Treitler Quartet.
Pontus’ recent success together with cellist Kristina Winiarski has led to performances at Lichtwarsaal in Hamburg, Classeek Winter Festival in Aubonne, Switzerland and an upcoming recording of Swedish music for cello and piano.
