Born in Venice in 1983, Alessandro Taverna has won numerous awards in international competitions including 1st prize in the Minnesota Piano Competition, 2nd prize in the London Piano Competition and Bronze Medal at the Leeds Pianoforte Competition.
As well as performing with the London Philharmonic and Hallé orchestras, he has worked with the Minnesota Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic, the Bucharest Philharmonic and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.
He graduated cum laude at Imola Piano Academy and at the S.Cecilia National Academy in Rome. He has continued his studies with Arie Vardi at the Hochschule für Musik in Hannover and at the prestigious Lake Como Piano Academy.
The Keyboard Trust has presented him in recitals in London, New York, Berlin and Hamburg and he opened the 2009/10 season of the Châteauville Foundation in Castleton, the Virginia estate of Lorin Maazel. He has won the Keyboard Trust’s Career Development Prize as a result of which he will perform his debut at Wigmore Hall in London in 2012.
