Godfrey Leung is currently an undergraduate student at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire where his tutors are Daniel Moult and Nicholas Wearne. Godfrey’s musical journey began at the age of four on the violin and piano. At the age of fifteen, with the encouragement and funding from priests in his home parish, he started learning the organ. In return for their strong faith in him, he continues regularly to play for Solemn Masses there.
Godfrey was born in Birmingham and spent his teenage years focusing on his violin studies. He was a member of the CBSO Youth Orchestra until 2019, performing orchestral works to professional standards. Over the years, however, the organ captivated his heart and soul.
Prior to his studies at the RBC, he attended the Royal Birmingham Junior Conservatoire with organ as his third study (with Darren Hogg). However, since joining the RBC organ department in September 2022, he has focused on his organ studies and most notably at the 2023 British Institute of Organ Studies (BIOS) conference and with a recital at St Paul’s Cathedral, London.
